Sony's no stranger to the HDV camcorder realm, so it's no real shock to see the firm introduce a brand new model for "entry-level professionals." Rockin' a shoulder-mount design and aimed at "wedding videographers, freelancers, and educational video creators," this unit supports both HDV and standard-definition DV formats, sports a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonner T 10x optical zoom lens, and features Super SteadyShot technology to keep things stabilized. Additionally, the HVR-HD1000U uses Sony's 1/2.9-inch ClearVid CMOS sensor system and enables users to capture stills up to 6.1-megapixels (or 4.6-megapixels whilst recording in HD). 'Course, all this HD goodness won't come sans a premium, and although this bad boy is tagged entry-level, you'll still be forking out $1,900 for it come December.

Another day, another fuel cell milestone. This time, it's sugar at the bio-electrical base. Unfortunately, the world's highest output they're touting is just 50mW per cell. Still, if you daisy chain a few together then you've got enough juice (literally) to power a modern Walkman albeit, from a battery roughly 10x the size of the player. Be sure to check their video after the break -- produced with just enough hair-porn-era synth music to make the otherwise benign experience, painful.

sonyplaytv-lg.jpg New additions to the Sony PlayStation catalogue were revealed by Sony Europe. The two new devices will "transform them (PS3 & PSP) to general-purpose devices." First up is the PlayTV, which is the official TV tuner for PS3. It features dual DVB-T tuners that can either record digital Freeview broadcasts of two shows or play one and record the other. The system supports the full performance of the PS3 and records the output in 1080p (if the show and the TV support it). There is a software update for PlayTV that brings the weeks guide to make more efficient the process. Additionally Sony also announced software and hardware updates for the PSP. PSP owners can play or 'queue' shows via the Internet and transfer 'downscaled' version of the shows to a Memory Stick via the USB. Sony with their deal partner British Telecom has formulated the Go! Messenger service; the Go! Cam add-on allows video and voice-chats with other users. Sony announced the Go!Explore as well. It is an adaptation of the PSP-GPS unit that combines an add-on GPS receiver and a IMD map library. Like most GPS units this one too provides 3D view, POI, multi-lingual support and with the WiFi link one can download extra info on maps to the Memory Stick. Sony will also offer pay-preview video downloads from TV network SKY for its British and Irish users so that they can view them on the PSP or sideload them to the PC for a better view. No word on the pricing of the PS3 or PSP devices or GPS services, but the Go!Explore (priced between $135-$200, depending on region) will be out in early 2008. Via - Sony Europe

What really makes this mouse unique is that it's the first mouse ever to feature an LCD display. You can view DPI settings and macro recording icons on the mouse. The unique shape and button positions are engineered for fast, comfortable, precise gaming action, thus helping you to become a pro at the game. The mouse comes with a Cable Anchor plus Accessories Storage Box. There is a Quick Launch button and Five Programmable Main Buttons as well. There is a choice of three different materials for glide preference and a wide metal scroll wheel plus vertical metal side buttons. The mouse will be out in October for $80. Source
