A national survey of 1,200 consumers conducted by Solutions Research Group found that 3 out of 4 surveyed Americans wanted a new gadget this holiday season. The rankings went a little something like this:
  1. HDTV (35%)
  2. Windows-based notebook (20%)
  3. Digital camera (17%)
  4. Windows-based desktop computer
  5. GPS car navigation
  6. Cellphone
  7. Digital video camera
  8. Nintendo Wii
  9. Sony PS3
  10. HD DVD or Blu-ray player
So where's Apple, the big bad daddy of consumer electronics? Well, their best showing was the MacBook with an 11 ranking followed by the iPhone at number 15. Pretty good when you consider the level of brand awareness this represents in a field of otherwise unspecified laptops and cellphones. In fact, 1-in-6 consumers are hoping for some type of Apple gear under the Chanukazaa tree this season.

nintendo_fit.jpg We have given you a lowdown on the Wii Fit already and there are plenty of specs that we love, but the great news for out Japanese cousins' is that Nintendo is releasing the Wii Fit in time for them to include it in their shopping list. Nintendo's announcement comes just a day after Sony announced that it would cut the price of its PlayStation 3 by 10 percent in Japan and launch a new, lower-priced PS3 model. Wii Fit will go on sale on December 1 for 8,800 yen ($75). It features a pressure-sensing mat called the "Wii Balance Board," that can sense motion, enabling players to "head" virtual soccer balls and experience ski jumping on a TV screen. The board can also be used for such activities as yoga and aerobics. "This is our most important product for this coming year-end," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata told a news conference. "With 'Wii Fit', we will be aiming to expand the definition of videogames as well as our user base." Wii Fit will be launched in overseas markets in 2008.

Sony_Playstation3_1.jpg What's the difference between ebony and ivory you would say! Well if you are playing the piano, then you ought to know, if you play chess then too it makes sense but if its just the difference in the outer shell color of PS3 then I don't think its much of a bother. Well if it means so much to you then Sony Japan just announced their ceramic white 40GB PS3 and DualShock 3 controller. The CECHH00 Series PS3 features backward compatibility, memory card slot, and 2x of the 4x USB slots. The DualShock 3 wireless remote (seen first at the Tokyo Game Show) will be out on November 11 for ¥5,500 or about $47/€33. The ceramic white PS3 will be out the same day for ¥39,980 (about $341/€242). Sony_Playstation3_2.jpg
